On February 1 2008, Gill and Andy arrived in Jakarta; it wasn’t an auspicious start to the new life in Indonesia. Jakarta was severely flooded by an entirely predictable combination of heavy tropical rain and a tidal surge – the airport was all but cut off from the city and it was complete chaos. Luckily, we were heading for Bogor, a city to the south of Jakarta on the slopes of two volcanoes; even better, there was a non-flooded back route from the airport around the flooded city and eventually we did make it to our new home.

Bogor Blog is our way of keeping track of our life here in ‘the Tropics” and recording our observations of everyday things that happen. You might find it interesting, but then again we expect that even our families are probably being polite when they say they read it.
