Elfin Lakes

An amazingly warm and sunny weekend in October provided the perfect reason for a last trip to the coast mountains before the real snow arrives. We headed up to Elfin Lakes on the Saturday morning – lots of snow at the campground and we were not the only people with the idea of camping at Elfin. We were the only ones to hike up to the Gargoyles on Saturday morning – we were rewarded with great views of Diamond Head.

Helm Creek and Panorama Ridge from Cheakamus Lake

Another September weekend with a great weather forecast, so we chose an easy, accessible backpacking trip to Garibaldi Provincial Park. We hiked into Helm Creek campsite from Cheakamus Lake and then headed up through the Cinder Flats to Panorama Ridge. Spectacular views and a nice alternative route into the park.

Semaphore Lakes

One of the easiest hikes into spectacular alpine in the region. For this reason, it’s a really popular hike, despite being a long drive from Vancouver, past Pemberton, through Pemberton Meadows, and up the Hurley Road towards Goldbridge. We spent one night, and with an earlier start we could have bagged Locomotive Mountain.

The Stein Divide – we finally made it!

Third time lucky!
