Watching the weather forecast as the weekend approached, we knew there would be early season snowfall in the Coast Mountains, but clear skies for Saturday and Sunday, albeit with frigid temperatures. We packed our trusty Hilleberg tent, down sleeping bags and mats, and down jackets, and headed for Garibaldi Lake!
In the summer of Covid-19 we snapped up a campsite at Kokanee Creek provincial campground, north of Nelson on the West arm of Kootenay Lake. It was a great week, involving a (virtual) half marathon, two overnight backpack trips, and two epic day hikes. What a great part of the province!.
We finally hiked up to to Rohr Lake and into the Marriott Basin! Two fabulous day hikes, but lots of areas to explore in a multi-night backpack trip.
To escape the crowds in the local mountains during the (first) summer of Covid19, we headed to the Southern Chilcotin. We hiked from Jewel Bridge to Spruce Lake, with a day hike up to Sheba Ridge.
