Visiting Bogor, and Bandung via Whoosh!

Back to Indonesia again for the first time in more than 18 months. An inspiring time with colleagues at PT Hatfield Indonesia – impactful projects, ambitious business plans, and an office renovation (yes, I approve of the new coffee machine!)

Hatfield Indonesia Team

Having spent four amazing years at PT Hatfield Indonesia (15 years ago!), a visit always stirs fond memories – hiking and running outside the city, Salak Sunset, Botani Square, and Kebun Raya. Amazing to see how the city and region has changed.

Working with our business unit leaders, I was able to support business planning in the forestry and climate change, mining, infrastructure and renewables sectors. From North Sumatra to Papua, a lot of interesting projects, all supported by dedicated admin, accounting, and IT team. At the corporate level, we have a great leadership team – thanks to Jim, Rani, and Bambang for the open discussions.

Lunch in the office

I managed to do some early morning running around Kebun Raya. A Sunday long run with Bugi up to Kopi Nako Kebon Jati – stunning views of Gunung Salak.

Another highlight of the trip was taking the new high speed train – Kareta Api Cepat – aka Whoosh – from Halim (east Jakarta) to Bandung.

Whoosh!

It’s an amazing piece of infrastructure. We took the Jakarta LRT to Halim station in East Jakarta. Then straight onto the Whoosh to Padalarang. An amazing 35 minutes with us reaching a top speed of 332 km / hour. A feeder train takes you into Bandung station. We went for a stroll through Taman Hutan Raya and had a good lunch before an afternoon return journey.

All this as I celebrate 21 years at Hatfield. As the Kareta API Cepat jingle says Whoosh, Whoosh, Whoosh, Yeah!
