A metre of snow in the campground, but glorious weather for the Canada Day long weekend at Garibaldi. An extra bonus – too early in the year for the crowds and the bugs. We spent two nights at the lake and had a great day hike up to the base of the Black Tusk.
It’s hard not get romantic about Cuba. Bucolic countryside, historic towns and cities with crumbling buildings and old cars, great people, music and culture, quiet roads for cycling, and good simple food and excellent rum cocktails. Cuba is also changing and providing better opportunities for its citizens. But that means western consumer culture, so go to Cuba now while it’s still such a radically different place.
After 4 years in Indonesia, followed by winter back in Vancouver, we were excited to be able to hit the trails in the BC Coast Mountains. Here’s a summary of this summer’s trips in the BC Coast Mountains.
Now that we have our Canadian passports, popping over the border to the USofA is a lot more appealing and quicker than before. Mount Baker Recreation Area is only a couple of hours from Vancouver and so is a tempting option, given that we often see glacier-covered Mount Baker from downtown on a clear day.
