After a lot of hard work at the evenings and weekend, with my fellow Brit Daniel Quinn, I am finally launching a website project about climbing (bagging) the mountains and volcanoes of Indonesia. We’re getting some good press, including a Lifestyle section front page spread in the Sunday Jakarta Post: Climb Ev’ry Mountain. The website gunungbagging.com is coming along nicely, and the aim is to list all the Indonesian mountains and volcanoes based on a prominence of 1,000 metres and information on how to climb them. Hopefully I will make it into the Hall of Fame before leaving Indonesia! (Perhaps I can’t leave until I do make it into the Hall of Fame?)
When we came to Indonesia, I had no idea of the amazing variety of trekking that is possible, especially the volcanoes and mountains to be climbed. Hence a lot of the posts in our blog are about trips volcano climbing. Feedback and comments on the site are welcome.
