Glacier Peak Wilderness has some fantastic hikes, and this 3-4 day circuit includes fabulous meadows, views of Glacier Peak, and the old growth forest along the North Fork Sauk River. We had one of our most spectacular trips in the alpine for years!

An amazingly warm and sunny weekend in October provided the perfect reason for a last trip to the coast mountains before the real snow arrives. We headed up to Elfin Lakes on the Saturday morning – lots of snow at the campground and we were not the only people with the idea of camping at Elfin. We were the only ones to hike up to the Gargoyles on Saturday morning – we were rewarded with great views of Diamond Head.
